Completing her thesis, Dr. Currimbhoy once again returned to USC for Dental School for another 4 years of study. Following successful completion of that program and having earned her D.D.S., this 8-year Trojan next moved cross-country to begin an Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida for one year.

Dr. Currimbhoy began her rigorous Oral and Maxillofacial residency program after that at Highland Hospital/ Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, CA. As part of her training, Dr. Currimbhoy worked through the affiliated institutions including Children’s hospital in Oakland, Kaiser Oakland, Dept. of Maxillofacial Surgery, and also served as faculty in the Oral Surgery department at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.

She happily continued with that group for several years before ultimately relocating back down to her beloved Southern California. During her time in Sacramento, Dr. Currimbhoy gave extra time to serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of providers, the “Craniofacial Panel” at the UC Davis Medical Center, whose mission was to evaluate and treat children afflicted with more complex and severe facial abnormalities, including cleft lip and cleft palate, as well as other conditions.

One of Dr. Currimbhoy’s greatest passions is being involved on the organizational level of dentistry. She is actively involved with the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS) and currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors. She believes strongly in the importance of using her unique set of knowledge, training, and experience, combined with her fundamental desire to help others, to advocate for essential and fundamental principles such as patient safety and providing consistent quality of care for all. During her years of having served as a committee and board member of CALAOMS, Dr. Currimbhoy has been actively involved in the drafting and negotiation of numerous bills and policies with our state legislators. Additionally, Dr. Currimbhoy serves as a delegate in the House of Delegates for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), her specialty’s national organization. This is a role she’s held with great pride for the past several years now, all the while maintaining her clinical practice treating patients, her greatest passion of all.
